A Day of New Things

Yesterday (October 24) was a day full of new things.
First: I woke up at 4:15 to go to the temple at 5am.
Second: I arrived at the temple, but then had to run full speed out of the lobby because one of my best friends got in a car accident and called me to pick her up.
Third: I stood out in the freezing SNOW while waiting for her to be done with the other 16 year old boy and the cops finished up (there was a group of approximately 7-8 of us waiting with her).
Fourth: I helped a friend out through her trauma of going through that.
Fifth: I ended up missing seminary because we decided that because of those circumstances, we needed to go to the temple even more so than before.
Sixth: I wore a skirt to school.
Seventh: (and this is the best one!) I made a skirt/dress!! It is a maxi skirt, with a tank top sown into it. So I made that, and then to cover the seam I made this sash! Isn't it cute?!?!?! (PS, You can find the pattern here: http://asmallsnippet.com/2011/09/wanna-make-dress.html )

Homecoming Part 2

Okay. So I have been a slacker. (I know it, Cara!) It's taken me forever to update my blog. But oh well! Cuz I'm getting to it now!(:

Homecoming was SO. MUCH. FUN! I was in a group with three football players (Kyle being one of the three) and their dates. We went and played frisbee golf (here in Lehi too! I did not know there was a course here) and it was my first time. Man is that sport hard!!! I do not have the strength or anything needed for it! Hahaha(: But it was a ton of fun(:
After frisbee golf, we went to a park to hang out and chat and be friends(: The boys got up and played football, and us girls sat and discussed our dresses and all that fun stuff(:
At around 3, we went home and got ready. Val (oh how I love her!) came over and did my hair and makeup. It turned out SO DANG PRETTY!!! She sincerely has a huge talent. I'm jealous(: She did a half-up-do, and natural, but dark makeup(:
At 6, the boys came again and picked us up and we went to The Asian Buffet. It was yummy(: I'm not a huge Asian food person, but it's one of my mom's favorite places(: We got to the dance around 8-ish. Maybe 8:30. We got our pictures taken by Cory Adam's Photography, and then danced the night away! We went home around 11 or 11:30, and it was just so much fun!

I didn't stab him!

Hopefully I didn't forget anything... But that was homecoming!

Homecoming Part 1

The reason this one is titled Homecoming Part 1 is because the actual homecoming part has not happened yet. Just the asking and the answering(:

Today I went to Macy's with Brinlie and Kimmy to get some things that Kimmy needed for one of her clubs (science I think?) Anyways, we ran into Kyle and Kyle. Kyle Cunningham and Kyle Curdy, so Kyle C doesn't help for the story much... For the remainder of the story, whenever I refer to Kyle, I mean Kyle Cunningham(: Anyways! Hahaha(:
Well we ran into the two Kyles and we decided to walk on over to Arctic Circle and get a curtisy cone from there. Kyle and Kyle ran off to one of the tables while us girls got the ice cream. But sadly, Brinlie and Kimmy had to go to a club meeting, and Kyle told me I had to stay. So I stayed, but I wasn't allowed to be over by the two Kyles yet... So I stood there awkwardly for about 5 minutes. But then Kyle called me over, and he had written on the table (in starbursts!) "Homecoming?" (except he forgot the "m" at the end. So really it was "Homecoing?" haha(: ) And then he stood there and just stared at me while I laughed at his missing m. But then he looks at me and asked "So will you?" And of course I responded with a "Yes" and then the people that were standing/sitting behind us started clapping and cheering. And you know how teenagers are, when one group starts cheering and clapping, so does everyone else. So all of Arctic Circle was clapping for Kyle and I. Which was so embarrassing, and I went SO red. But it was fun, and I was laughing a lot. And I'm so excited to go to homecoming with Kyle (Cunningham, just to clarify(; ) because Kyle is one of those kids that can just make your day happy. He makes me laugh so much, and just is a super cool guy!! And it doesn't hurt that he is on the school's football team(; But this is my first dance that I've been asked to, and I'm thrilled!! Homecoming isn't until next Saturday (the 15th) but I'm excited!! Ahh!(:

Also, on a side note, the websites foodgawker.com and craftgawker.com have become on my top 4 most addicting websites. They are fantastic, in case you were wondering(:
Okay, till next time(:

SUGARLAND!!!

Yes. I went to a Sugarland concert on Sept. 1st. Everybody jealous? I knew it ;)
It really was AMAZING however!!! And a lot of memories were made.
It was my very first concert I have ever been to, and I am a huge fan of Sugarland, so I was wayy excited!! For those of you who don't know, Sugarland is a country duo, and they are fantastic, just sayin'. I went with my really good friend Alayna(:
Well... We got lost on our way. Dumb google maps told us to go one way, when we were supposed to go the opposite direction. We figured that out when we stopped by into Smiths to ask for directions. We got there around 5:45, 15 minutes before the doors opened, and 1 hour and 15 minutes before the concert was to start. We made it in (and guess what?! The tickets were two for one, so I got two tickets for only $41!!!) We walked to merch, and bought a wonderful shirt that I will post a picture of when I finish fixing it(: It was about 6:45-7:00, and it started POURING. Hard. I had a jacket and a blanket, and both of them were on me. And my skin was wet. It was BAD. And so they postponed to start of the concert by 45-60 minutes. Which was agony, waiting. But finally they started!!! But it was still raining :( The first opening act was a guy by the name of Canaan Smith, who I had never heard of, but he was good! And the second act was Lauren Alaina, who came in second place in American Idol last year, and I love her. So that was exciting. Then 30 minutes after that, Sugarland FINALLY  came out. And Jennifer (the main singer of Sugarland) was pregnant, which was exciting! (And funny to watch. Cuz she moves a lot when she sings, but she couldn't move as much cuz of her baby.) Someone actually made her a blanket for her baby! It was cute(: Sugarland played all of my favorite songs. Their tour this year was called "In Your Hands" because this concert was made by us, the fans. We chose the songs they played, and we were interactive. It was a blast(: But it rained periodically throughout the whole night. Which sucked. But was still TOTALLY worth it!!! I got home about 12:30, which was actually earlier than I thought it would be! I half way lost my voice. It isn't gone, but once I go past a certain loudness, my throat and whole head just hurts. Which is fun! Woohoo! Hahaha(: It was one of the funnest and greatest things of my whole entire life.
Carrie Underwood comes to SLC on October 12, and I really want to go, cuz it's her and Hunter Hayes (who is such a good singer, and WAYYY cute). I would love to go see her(: But I will have to see how much tickets cost. Maybe I could even win them off the radio like I tried to do with Sugarland(:
And when Miranda Lambert comes to SLC, I HAVE to go to her concert. Cuz she is my all-time favorite!!
What can I say? I'm a country girl!(:

Jenny Oaks Baker Part 2

Black Face Masks!

My best friend Jennifer! Isn't she beautiful?

All three of us. What a wonderful day(:

Once again, I went to a Jenny Oaks Baker concert!! This one was on July 27th at the Draper Amphitheater. It was SO. MUCH. FUN!!! I went with my bestest friend Jennifer and we had a blast! She got to my house around 5 or 5:30 and we ate some pizza, got directions, and then headed off to Draper!! We got there and just hung out for 30-60 minutes until the performance started. And then Jenny came out and she played her songs from her Wish Upon A Star and Silver Screen Serenade albums, which are amazing! (If you haven't heard her song "Suite from 'Far and Away'" I would definitely look it up! It's one of my favorites!!) Her show, just like the one in Pleasant Grove, was fantastic. The bonus of this concert was all of the other instruments that were there. There was a piano (which was all that was at the PG one) and a cello and a harp and a guy playing all percussion and a guy playing all of winds/brass. It was so cool! It was also way fun! So we got in line to get a picture with her. I bought her Christmas album "O Holy Night" and she signed it. Then Jen and I got a picture together with Jenny. And guess what? SHE REMEMBERED ME!!! After I talked about the PG one, she was like "Oh yes, I remember you!" And then I about passed out. It was one of my proudest moments(: And Jen and I went to play at a little park right outside of the amphitheater and there we played with a 7 year old Sarah and a 5 year old Matthew, and found out shortly after meeting them, that they were Jenny's two youngest! Sarah plays the cello and Matthew plays the guitar. They are so cute!! Well Sarah and I did "obstacles" together and then I got a "surprise" which was just a cute little massage given as best as she could give it. And it was so cute(: I about died of cuteness that night. Oh, and Sarah gave me a hug when she left!!(: When Jen and I went back to the car, Jenny was leaving, so we waved goodbye and then I was sad, cuz that was her last show in Utah for the summer/year I think... ): Then Jen and I went back to my house, hung out, put on BLACK face masks, and then fell asleep around 3 or 4 and woke up at 8 so Jen could be home in time to give her parents the car back. It was the best time of my life. And I wish I could relive it all of the time! But that's why I write it here right? Cuz then I can read it and remember whenever I want(:

Official!

On Sunday, I officially was called and set apart as the Laurel Class President! I am so excited for this calling! I think, and hope, I can do a good job. I made a list a while back as to what I would like to do as president. (I have been in a super big list making mood lately) My list consists of:
-Be willing and happy to do things
-Get to know the laurel class more
-Be a good example
-Be encouraging and supportive
-Work hard
-Input ideas
-Be good
-Be kind
-Be energetic
-Be a friend
-Be involved
-Gain a stronger testimony and share it
-Know that this is the calling the Lord wants me in.
I am really excited to be called in this calling. I'm really excited to be able to serve the laurels in my ward, and I'm really excited to be able to work with the wonderful leaders that our ward has! Elise, you really are one of the best presidents and friends that I have ever had (and no Penny, she is not replacing you(; I can have multiple "favorites" haha(: ) I could not ask for a better ward, better young women's, and better young women's presidency. Thanks to everyone! I love you all(:

Lately(:

So Tuesday, July 3rd, was my Mama's birthday. We went to Red Lobster then went and saw a movie, just me, my mom, my dad, and my uncle. It was so much fun! Then yesterday for the fourth, I went down the street and watched a really fun, big fireworks display (we had like 5 or 6 families put together fireworks and set them all off. It was crazy how long it was!) The two best things of the display were the kids and how happy they got, all of the excitement they felt, and one of the men catching on fire. He was trying to stomp out a fire we had started, which he did, but he didn't quite realize that he was on fire himself. So after 4 or 5 times we yelled it at him, he finally realized and was able to get that out too. It was very funny(: Then today, I went to the mall with my friend Tina. It was so much fun! Sadly, I spent almost $85, but I swear to you it was worth it. And the best part was that everything but my Walmart stuff and Music books were on sale! I got a bunch of Bath and Body Works stuff, a SUPER cute shirt, a Tinkerbell aluminum water bottle, a body scrub, a hair flower, new violin music, and dinner (plus the stuff I got at Walmart) (: We were gone for about 6 hours, and it was the most fun I've had in a while. I absolutely loved it(: (And yes, I got ungrounded yesterday morning. It was GREAT!)
